Yes, it is possible to provide healthcare to your contractors. Near has partnered with SafetyWing in order to provide healthcare plans for contractors wherever they may be.

Plans

When a customer decides to purchase a healthcare plan for their contractors, they have 3 plans to choose from:

Standard

  • Outpatient benefits have a $5,000 maximum limit per policy year (with 10% co-insurance paid by the member). Covers doctor's visits for medically necessary treatment (nothing routine), specialist visits, physical therapy, prescription medications, and lab tests or diagnostic studies outside of hospital stays.

Premium

  • Outpatient benefits have a $5,000 maximum limit per policy year. Covers doctor's visits for medically necessary treatment (nothing routine), specialist visits, physical therapy, prescription medications, and lab tests or diagnostic studies outside of hospital stays.
  • Dental - $1,500 maximum benefit per policy year. It covers dental cleanings, x-rays, fillings, and more.
  • Vision - $500 maximum benefit per policy year. It covers eye exams, lenses, frames, and contacts.
  • Screenings and Vaccines - $500 maximum benefit per policy year. It covers yearly physicals, routine check-ups, routine blood work, and vaccinations.

Premium Plus (Maternity)

  • Outpatient benefits have a $5,000 maximum limit per policy year. Covers doctor's visits for medically necessary treatment (nothing routine), specialist visits, physical therapy, prescription medications, and lab tests or diagnostic studies outside of hospital stays.
  • Dental - $1,500 maximum benefit per policy year. It covers dental cleanings, x-rays, fillings, and more.
  • Vision - $500 maximum benefit per policy year. It covers eye exams, lenses, frames, and contacts.
  • Screenings and Vaccines $500 maximum benefit per policy year. It covers yearly physicals, routine check-ups, routine blood work, and vaccinations.
  • Maternity $7,500 maximum benefit per policy year with a 20% co-insurance. Covers medically necessary costs incurred during pregnancy and childbirth, including pre- and post-natal check-ups.

Pricing

  • Standard: $100.00 / month
  • Premium: $145.00 / month
  • Premium + maternity: $200.00 / month

Billing

The bill for the contractor’s healthcare plan would be generated separately from the contractor’s monthly salary and Near’s fee. The billing frequency is quarterly.

For example, if a client chooses a standard healthcare plan for their contractor, the client would receive an invoice on the contractor’s start date showing 3 x $100.00 = $300.00. This invoice would recur every quarter. In case a contractor is terminated before a billed cycle is over, a prorata would be credited to the customer’s account.

Contractor On-boarding in SafetyWing

Operations would send an invite from SafetyWing’s admin account to the contractor via email. This is the registration process where the contractor would be asked to provide all information necessary to activate his/her healthcare policy.

After sending the invite, SafetyWing needs a 2-week lead time in order to fully review, process, and activate the member’s healthcare policy.

SafetyWing Support

Near has a dedicated Account Manager from SafetyWing who would be available to assist with any concerns such as account login, policy status, and activation, claims, etc. If the new team member would need a session to understand his/her healthcare coverage, our SafetyWing Account Manager would be able to facilitate a town hall.
